New Year New Focus

The start of a new year can ofton bring about resolutions and intentions.

As individuals sometimes our focus will shift. Other times we will bring our focus back to those things that are important to us and approach them with a renewed zest!

Other times notions of new year and new beginnings can seem lost on us as It  feels like it's the same ol same and we cant envisage anything changing.

For us at the SPVU steering group we aim to UNITE, CHANGE and ASPIRE.

Towards end of 2021 the steering group reflected upon what our members and followers have told us is important.

Ultimately what matters to members steers the focus of the steering group.

With this in mind it was decided to focus on the issues highlighted from members within themed meetings during the year ahead.

We have started the year as we mean to go on.

In January 2022 we have had meetings focusing on sensory processing and transistion to adulthood. Two themes that impact the SEND community.

The insights we have gained from these discussions has been noteworthy and we plan to explore these things further throughout the year.

In addition to these meetings we were also invited to a tender meeting.

Having the opportunity to have a seat at the table in such a meeting highlights that the proffesionals are becoming more aware of the parent forum and the importance of our voice.

Going forward we are keen to continue to explore a theme that impacts on so many TRANSPORT.

We are also launching a new survey that will focus on Identifying and Supporting SEND. Something that will inevitably have impact for SPVU members.

We urge any SPVU followers to complete the anonymous survey to share your experience.

That way as a parent forum we can continue to focus on what is important to you collectively.

Aside from themed meetings and surveys we also endeavour to listen to the feedback we had in the welcome survey and arrange some training opportunities for members.

An additional focus for the forum is to grow in numbers to capture the collective voice of the community within Sandwell.

There are many ways to get involved in SPVU from following us on Facebook, liking and sharing posts that resonate.

To becoming a member of the SPVU steering group and being involved in things behind the scenes. If this is something you want to find out more about please email us at admin@spvu.org to express your interest.

The steering group look forward to continuing in our aim to UNITE, CHANGE AND ASPIRE alongside members in 2022.
